Preface - Welcome Message

It's a pleasure to welcome all delegates of the 26th International Papillomavirus Congress to the host city of Montréal. While all of us are here to actively participate in a diverse and comprehensive scientific programme, we hope that many of you will take the opportunity to discover Montréal's numerous attractions that will put balance, enjoyment and fun into your overall conference experience.

Montreal is an international city that has played host to a World's Fair (Expo 67) and the Summer Olympic Games (1976). It is bilingual (French and English) and multi-cultural (can't think of any we are missing). We all come from "somewhere else" and cultural communities proudly retain their ethnic diversity.

The spirit of Montreal doesn't rest in its buildings and historical sites. It lies in its people and different neighbourhoods. While there are must see sites, I encourage you, if the weather co-operates, to pick some neighbourhoods, parks and markets and just walk. Be open, soak in the ambiance. The good news is that the city is safe & laid back with easy transportation by Metro (subway) just about everywhere you might want to go. Restaurants are plentiful. At night the downtown core and the nightlife districts are bustling, filled with our innate joie de vivre and especially the Festival de Jazz de Montréal.

Below is a list of suggestions put together by the members of the Local Organizing Committee. Most of us work in Montréal and enjoy the quality of life we enjoy at home!

Have fun and enjoy!
