Lorraine Elit

Education and Professional Standing
Dr. Laurie Elit earned her medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1984 and began a mixed internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. In 1989 she completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia. After completing a research fellowship in Basic Science and a fellowship in Pelvic Surgery, Dr. Elit began a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology in 1991. In 1995 she completed a Masters in Design, Measurement and Evaluation at McMaster University.

Today Dr. Elit is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at McMaster University and a Gynecologic Oncologist at the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton. Her research interests include: Health Services Research in Gynecologic Oncology, specifically ovarian cancer, Randomized trials specifically in CIN 1 and ovarian cancer, Treatment decision making in ovarian cancer, and she has published extensively on these topics.
