William Fisher, PhD is Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Western Ontario and Research Affiliate of the Center for Health, Intervention, and Prevention at the University of Connecticut. . His work focuses on development and testing of the Information—Motivation—Behavioral Skills model of reproductive health behavior, with special focus on STI/HIV prevention, and he has published over 180 papers in the area of understanding and promoting sexual and reproductive health. Dr. Fisher has received Western’s Hellmuth Award for Research and Western’s Pleva Award for Excellence in Teaching, he has held a National Health Scientist award from Health Canada, and his research has been supported by the US National Institutes of Health for the past two decades.
